How we handle your data
This notice covers the one form on this site: the request for the Semantic Integrity Framework paper. It is written to be read rather than to be survived.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Semiosphere, the practice that publishes this site. Write to us about anything on this page at info@semiosphere.co.uk. Semiosphere is a trading name rather than a company; if you want the name and an address for the individual behind it, ask at that address and we will give them to you.
What we collect, and why
When you request the paper we collect the work email address you give us, and the name and organisation if you choose to give them. The email address is required because it is how we send you the paper and how we reply if you ask us something; the other two fields are optional and exist so that a reply can be addressed properly.
We use those details for two purposes and no others: sending you the paper, and corresponding with you about semantic risk if you want to. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests — responding to someone who has asked us for a document is what they asked for — and you can object to it at any time by telling us.
What we do not do
We do not sell or rent your details. We do not share them with third parties for their own purposes. We do not add you to a bulk mailing list, and requesting the paper does not subscribe you to anything. We do not track you across other websites: this site sets no analytics or advertising cookies, and the page you are reading contains no third-party scripts.
Who processes it for us
The form is handled by Netlify, which hosts this site and stores form submissions on our behalf so that we can read them. Netlify acts as our processor. The paper, and any reply we send you, goes out from our Microsoft 365 email account, so your address and our correspondence with you are held by Microsoft, which also acts as our processor. The site also loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers when the page renders.
How long we keep it
We keep a paper request for 24 months from the date you make it, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or our correspondence with you becomes a client engagement, in which case the engagement's own terms govern. After 24 months the record is deleted.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, and object to our using it. Write to info@semiosphere.co.uk and we will act within one month. There is nothing to pay.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you are entitled to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you told us first, so that we can put it right.
Changes
This notice was last updated in September 2026. If we change what we collect or why, we will change this page before the change takes effect.
